Before getting in The Bod Pod I did a breathing test that tested my Resting Metabolic Rate. This told me how many calories I burn just resting and gave me an estimate of the calories I burn during exercise and activity. The amount of calories I burn a day are 1598 and my metabolism is slightly higher than the average person.
This test helped the nutritionist determine that I need to consume between 1300 and 1400 calories a day! The reason I plateaued for so long is because I was consuming 1200 calories a day...not enough for my body. I was in starvation mode. When I decide that I like the way I look then I can eat up to 2000 calories a day {with exercise} to maintain. Awesome news!!
Next up, The Bod Pod. I was wearing tights, a sports bra and a swim cap. It was a lovely sight for sure! She opened and closed the door 3 times and I was done. That was it, literally. This test told her that I weigh 157.3 {damn holidays!}. I have 61.8 lbs fat and 95.5 lbs of lean muscle. She was super surprised because she said most people coming in looking to lose weight have 70 or 80 lbs of lean muscle mass. I've got tons of muscle up under all of this fat!
I have 39.3% fat which put me in the excess range {30.1%- 40%}. We set a goal to be down to 35% in 6 weeks. She also asked what weight was stuck in my head. I said 110-115 because that's what I was pre-babies. She told me to throw that number out because that would put me in the ultra lean range {15%-18%}. Her exact words were "you'll be jacked at that weight". There's nothing wrong with that and I can aim for that but it's not going to happen in 12 weeks and I totally agree.
According to the The Bod Pod, 140 lbs is on the higher end of healthy for me. I would like to get to 125 though, which is still in the healthy range for me.
The nutritionist is going to bring me menu plans made just for me on Saturday. We discussed how I crave sweets {mostly chocolate ice cream} at night. She is going to create a plan for me that will reduce the number of carbs I have after lunch. She wanted to make it clear that we still need carbs but we need to make sure they are good carbs and not too much. Too much of a good thing...blah, blah, blah...
I would totally recommend anyone going and getting these tests done. It was nice to hear "you need to be eating more" even though MFP and other weight-loss sites say that I only need 1200 calories, they don't take into account how much muscle mass I have and how fast my metabolism is.
If you have any questions about my experience with The Bod Pod, feel free to ask in the comments or email me at shelly_anderson8 at yahoo dot com.

Have a great Friday!!

I have never heard of a bod-pod how interesting. I would love to find someone that has one so I could get my measurements. How did you find out about it?
I wish my small town had something like that.

Your metabolism is high! Mine was 1330! Yay for having muscle and THANK GOD someone else is seeing the light, I don't know who came up with 1200 but people need to EAT :)
That machine looks terrifying! I am definitely interested in my body fat % is. Something I may have to seriously look into. Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to see/hear more.
I didn't know that this existed! I'm going to have to look into this because I'm really interested in finding out what my fat to muscle ratio is. I really wish I had something to compare it to pre-pregnancy because I feel jiggly like jello way more than I ever did before!
